How awesome would a Silmarillion-themed card deck be?

Anyone?

This card features Manwe, Vala of the wind, and Ulmo, Vala of the sea, because the king of hearts represents a loving man tempered with wisdom.

The assignment was to create four cards, each representing either sex, drugs, or rock and roll. So this is my 'sex' card, and, unfortunately, sex can sometimes be more about obsession than anything else. These guys sometimes forget everything due to an obsession with their own realms, but they're still inevitably bound to one another and the fate of the world.



Sketched on paper and then inked and colored in PhotoshopCS4 with the help of some textures from cgtextures.com, spring 2010



The Silmarillion and its characters belong to the Tolkien estate

Okay, I faved this quite some time back but now that I see it again and behold how ridiculously little comments it has (while it deserves to have a million), I need to write something! First of all, if you ever actually made a deck of Silmarillion cards, I'd totally buy it! ;D

And now, this is my definite favourite out of the cards, I really love everything about it, the choice of Valar, the chain that binds them, how the water and air are composed and how Ulmo looks like a reflection in the water and I love your justification behind this design.

And Ulmo looks so awesome and kind of sad, such a nice but quite lonely good guy ;u;

Aw shucks! Thank you so much! I've got the Silmarillion on my mind almost constantly, but unfortunately my full-time job along with my newest graphic novel project have sort of pushed other projects onto the back burner. Fear not! Whenever I do find spare time, I usually try to work on my Silmarillion project, so as soon as I have some updates, you will find out about it here!

Nice. I'm familiar with it, in that I know of it's existence, but I've never read it or anything, so I don't know anything about the story of the characters.
